The currency used in Japan is yen (\, JPY). Foreign currency can be changed to yen at major banks, hotels, and airports. Only Japanese yen is accepted at stores and restaurants.
Bills come in units of 1,000, 5,000, and 10,000 yen, and coins in units of 1, 5, 10, 50, 100, and 500 yen. US$1.00 is 110.49 yen (as of May 23, 2018), and it fluctuates daily depending on the money market.

Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Diners Club cards are widely accepted at hotels, department stores, shops, and restaurants in Tokyo.
Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) are commonly available in Tokyo, and you can withdraw Japanese yen from them. Please note that some ATMs do not accept foreign credit cards or cash cards.
For ATMs that accept credit cards, it is advised to contact the specific credit card company beforehand and check its availability, as these conditions vary from machine to machine.
Tipping and Tax
There is no custom of individual tipping in Japan. Instead, a service charge will be included in the bill where applicable. Further, 8% consumption tax applies to almost all consumer goods purchased in Japan.

Smoking is prohibited in all meeting rooms and public area in the venue hotel. Designated areas are provided for smokers outside the entrance. Delegates can choose a smoking room when they make hotel reservation.
